Award-winners to be disclosed via an online gala streamed on Twitch
The recording industry is already preparing the third edition of the Odeón Awards. The annual recognising awards of the Spanish music industry to winners 2021 shall be held on 15th March through an interactive and virtual venue that will be followed live through social network Twitch. The online gala, open to all publics, shall be conducted by relevant streamer Cristinini on her Twitch channel, with 3 million subscribers. Odeón Awards website, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook official accounts shall also echo the venue, as well as those of nominees and awarded artists, encouraging the active participation of all music lovers on social networks and enhancing the role of social as the acts-fans meet and greet venue.
Odeón awards are fostered by AGEDI (the collecting society in charge of managing phonographic producers’ intellectual property rights) and mean a recognition to artists and most successful recordings in 2021. As in past editions, the public, through their music consumption along the year in digital platforms and physical sales, takes part of the process to elect nominees and those finally awarded. Odeón’s were first introduced at the end of 2019 and hosted their first award-giving ceremony in the Madrid Royal Theatre at the beginning of 2020. From the coronavirus pandemic, 2021 edition moved to the Net. For the second year in a row, again a virtual venue has been chosen for the awards presentation, in a clear commitment on closeness to young people, which live permanently connected and understand leisure differently, as shown by their daily consumption habits. It also reflects in their way to get updated with their favourite artists’ releases, or in the relationship they have with them through social media. It is about doing an award presentation that enters their daily experiences, as listening to music in streaming is, as one of most popular music consumption ways currently.
However, dynamic stands out from last year’s. The online gala to be conducted by Cristinini shall be streamed from 19 to 21h, prime time at Twitch. During stream, relevant influencers and musicians shall appear to disclose the names of artists awarded along the evening. Also, most relevant awarded artists shall participate in this great gathering where contact with fans, music and amusement will not be missed.

Acknowledging the need to appreciate the success of the broader music diversity of our country, the awards expand this year to a higher number of categories. This way, new recognitions are included, as the international and Latin best song, album and new artist. There will also be awards for best rock, flamenco and alternative songs; finally, most successful song and album shall be awarded, regardless of the music genre.
On the other hand, besides having taking part with their daily choices of streams or purchases along the year, the public still have a relevant role when it comes to choose final awards, with their voting from today and up to 6th March open at Odeón Award website (www.premiosodeon.es); they will be able to pick among all nominees the best local pop, rock, urban, alternative and flamenco artist and new artist; as well as best International and Latin artist and new artist.
A total of 33 awards shall be presented, including a honour award to an artist full music journey and a best tour of the year award. We wait for you on 15th March in the great music venue, the Odeón Awards 2022.
